The Indian Association Of Physiotherapists has decided to launch a
Nationwide protest [dharna]. Professionals will assemble at Jantar
Mantar on 08/03.2010 to protest against the discriminatory policy of
ministry of health against physiotherapists
Dr.Sanjiv k Jha general secretary IAP said that ministry is doing a
lot of discrimination against Physiotherapy profession since so many
years and even after so many representations nobody is ready to
solve the problems of physiotherapists.
Discrimination with physiotherapy:
1) No central council inspite of pursuing it since last 30
years.
2) No up gradation of cadre & pay as per the professional
skills in last 40 years. skills up pay down.
3) Lack of govt. initiative to upgrade profession in India
These discriminations have affected the morale & practice of
physiotherapy professionals, which will have a sure effect on health
care delivery system of our country.
Representation against anomalous & unjustified recommendation of
commission regarding pay scales, categorization & other
recommendations for physiotherapists which have been decided
unanimously.
Physiotherapist work on scientific , established system of medicine
at various levels, imparting education at undergraduate,
postgraduate & doctorate levels in India. The course contents &
curriculum is of 4 and half years, 2-3 years post graduations and
3-5 years of PhD.
Since the Recruitment Rules in Central Government hitherto are not
based on present educational qualification (B.P.T) and has not been
amended yet, Revisions/amendments in recruitment Rules at Central
Govt for induction of physiotherapist is urgently required.
Graduates, postgraduates & doctorate level physiotherapist have not
been adequately valued for their professional expertise. If no
solution arises, this profession may perish depriving millions of
patient from the benefits of this unparalleled health system.
Our demands:
1) To give an independent council/wing for physiotherapist as
suggested by parliamentary committee of health.
2) To upgrade the cadre & pay structure for physiotherapist
as per their qualification & nature of work.
Please join us to make our effort a
successful one and achieve our goals.
Please sacrifice for the profession and save physiotherapy.
DR.SANJIV K JHA
GENERAL SECRETARY
