SECRETARY’S REPORT
DearMembers,
Many many congratulations to all of you, at last after so many years of
struggle we could achieve our aim to regularize our teaching cadre by UGC
and notifying the qualifications and pay scale for physiotherapy teachers.
More over after long debate we could get the Autonomy at least in teaching as now Principal
\Director \Dean of physiotherapy will be from physiotherapy back ground. This will give us a
strong background towork and promote our faculty ,teaching and research.
First times in the history of our profession in India.
We could achieve i.e.
1.
First time an authentic body (Parliamentary standing committee of health) gave its report
justify our stand by giving an impartial report & recommended everything as we wanted.
2.
First time we got our teaching cadre, minimum standard, and other teaching norms
notified byU.G.C.
3.
First time we published public notice in all media on Dr. issue saving the pride of
physiotherapists. we are fighting on paper against all discriminating attitudes of various
bodies.
More over we were also able to win the case against the distance education in court and now
UGC has also band the distance education in physiotherapy. This we could achieve mainly
after proper justification in court that physiotherapy is a practical and such course that cannot
be run by distance education.
It is a great achievement to save our profession in India, I specially thank my CEC and all of
you for your great support which helped us to achieve this great milestone in our profession.
We have still miles to go to firmly establish our profession in the society but we all have to
leave our disputes to fight against all odds and those factors which are trying to destabilize and
defame our profession.
Nowwe are heading towards a combined council and we have received assurance from health
ST
ministry that our interest will be protected as per the recommendations of 31
PARLIAMENTARYSTANDINGCOMMITTEEOFHEALTH.
