Dr. Jha- Somay be before Indore youwill announce it?
Dr. Misra- yes.
Dr. Pradnya Dhargawe- I need a help from IAP. I am working for NIMHANS from past 27 years. I
have completed my PhD in Neuro rehabilitation from NIMHANS itself. There they have all the
departments like for clinical psychology, social worker, speech pathology, even for yoga. But for
physiotherapy which is there since past 60 years they are neither giving me any department nor a
faculty position and nor even a course so I would like to request here to IAP. I am just a chief
therapist and it is there only given on diploma basis. So after having so much of qualification, is
there anything that I can do via IAPso all other people doing PhD in NIMHANS and other friends of
mine there can surpass the suffering? I am just curious to know if I can get any help from IAP. If IAP
can write it to the ministry of health, or to NIMHANS,to start a course because they are themselves
working for neuro rehabilitation, psychiatry or so.
Dr. Jha- Who is the education committee in charge they should answer. Are you asking about
starting a course of BPT inNIMAHNS?
Dr. Pradnya- No its super speciality hospital, I think we can start with masters or PhD. So I think
IAP can take lead and write to the government and even pressurise to Karnataka Govt or to
NIMHANS institute itself that it has been a pioneer institute for psychosocial rehabilitation. I think
the physiotherapist will be benefitted.
Dr. Prabhat :You please send your representation , we will try to represent it at earliest.
Dr. Pradnya- no but NIMHANS doesn't follow UGC, it has his own deemed university. It is an
institute of national importance. So the director is asking you show me where is it available? If in
any of the INI's it is there.
Dr. Prabhat:Ya I agree but please sendme the details.
Dr. Pradnya- the faculty position and starting a course also because if IAP writes it will be much
more easier.
Dr, prabhat- you write on our part, just send one recommendation I will make necessary changes
andwe will see howwe can proceed.
Dr. Sanjay (4034)- Good afternoon. I have two questions, I will second one first as it is linked to the
lady's question, why don't we think from IAP to request universities to start clinical specialisations.
That may solve Dr. Pradnya's problem also. Instead of having a MPT program, which is more
academically oriented, like they have in other countries, which jave progressed in this profession.
Dr. Jha- please give me example of clinical specialisation, what you were talking about. In India
other medical sciences, do they have this?
Dr. Sanjay- Yes, like orthopeadic specialisation after MBBS, like MS Ortho, or other options as
well. There are also more options available in physiotherapy as well, why I am saying this, we need
to have a demarcation between clinical programs and academic oriented programs. We have people
entering academics fromclinical side. And clinicians entering in academics.
It is pretty bad because none of them are equipped for the respectable areas. I think IAP can think as
